The above map represents an attempt to democratize eviction data and allow anyone with access to a phone to report their eviction, receive information about their rights as occupiers, and get in touch with the NGO partners that sponsored the creation of this toolkit. Private or sensitive information will not be available publically.
The tool serves two purposes. First, it tries to generate a dataset on illegal evictions as illegal evictions do not generate any publicly available dataset for analysis. This will be used for advocacy of communities and individuals experiencing eviction and also for widespread sharing and consciousness raising on the web. Second, a longer survey has been created to complement the initial reporting tool which serves as a case management system for our partners to understand long-term outcomes of folks who have faced evictions and forced removals.
